Nudepatches and erotica in a computer games part XXX

Sexuality and nudity in video games is nothing new. It has been portrayed more or less in a various gaming systems and computers from a dawn of computer age.

From early text-based adventures to newest AAA titles. Here is my quick writing about this subject. 

No Hentai or other real adult games are discussed on this article, only mainstream games.

A brief history of nude patches.

Nude patch, where computer game character / characters texture is changed to be appear without clothes.

A phenomenon is considered to begun in 1999. This game was called Tomb Raider.

There was a rumor about Tomb Raider game that in a console version of this game has hidden code, where you can see nude Lara Croft.

But this was a Internet Hoax. No hidden co actually exist.

But it didn't take long time to be an reality.

Not with console version, but there was a nudepatch to PC version of this game.

So phonemon started with Tomb Raider and there is many similar nude patches to various games today. 

Nudity and sexuality in computer games. 

When talking about this subject, i decided to category this to 2 categories. So here they are.

Category 1.

The player character or other game model is changed to appears as naked, without special reason to game play or functionality wise.

For example, Tomb Raider game nude patch was just a one good example of this type. 

They are fan made modifications to games and  most of the nude mods are made ​​for female characters.

So, Super Mario is unlikely to get Ron Jeremy skins very quickly.

Category 2.

In this category, game itself contains either direct sexual activity or it is hinted in a game. 

Scene of the game might take place in a striptease bar or similar place, or you can even buy services from a prostitute. one example is GTA IV/V, But act of sex is still presented in a mild.

Then there are games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect game series, where relationship might end to be an erotic scene, or even sex scene between game characters. 

But these are valid options in a game, but it is not necessary in a plot wise. You can ignore it if you want and it is not necessary to get involved in this kind of activity.

But again these scenes are quite mild, if compared to TV-series or movies.

Many times it feels that nudity or sex is forced, or even clued in the game. 

Many these scenes seems to be inserted in to a game because some PR people think that this is a good way to create buzz around your game  Or it make your game more "mature"

Many times these scenes are so stupidly implemented, that they make you laugh and wonder. WHYYYYY !!??

Then there are many games like Witcher series, where nudity and sex is part of the game, but it feels right and it is presented in a positive way. 

This is also case in many Bioware titles, and it seems that it is more acceptable by general public than couple of years ago.  

When it is done a  right way , i cannot complain. Is it necessary in many games, No.
