Something about Fallout 3

Now, when Fallout 4 is just around a corner. It's good to check for Previous game Fallout 3 because it seems that both their stories will overlap in some form as is rumours are right (Three dog will return?)

We have some time to kill, before we can find that what kind of game Fallout 4 really is.

Bethesda's Fallout 3 game, and then the another one?

Bethesda Softworks first step on Fallout series was in 2008, when Interplay sold rights to them just before they went broke and out of business at 2003.

Fallout 1 and 2 maker Black Isle Studios had own Fallout 3 in development, but it was cancelled when Black Isle Studios was shut down.

So this Fallout 3 in known for it's code name Van Buren.

Tech demo for Van Buren vas released on internet in 2007.

You can read more about http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Van_Buren

After Black Isle Studios was shut down, their core crew established new company called Obsidian Entertainment and as we know their adventures in world of Fallout was not ended there.

Bethesda Softworks outsourced  Fallout: New Vegas game development to Obsidian at 2010.

Fallout 3 was released to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 at 2008

Fallout 3 By Bethesda Softworks

Game will be in year 2277, about 40 years after Fallout 2.

Game will start as when you are born, game will show little about life in a vault as you get older. This will work as tutorial for game and also acts as character creation. When you exist the Vault, you can change you characters stats if you like.

Story of game will start when player dad (Voiced by Liam Neeson) will escape at Vault 101. This triggers little panic in the Vault and you must also escape from there to the wasteland, and go after your dad,

Game has multiple side quest to do and huge area to explore.

I often finded myself to do these side quest and just exploring game area that i did not follow the main quest for many hours. I did these side quests and exploring for about 50 - 60 hours after i escaped from Vault 101.

I have played Fallout 3 and it's DLC's several times in past years. I always find new things and try to do different choices than previous playthrus.

Biggest change from Fallout 2 is that Fallout 3 is FPS RPG as Fallout 2 was isometric. Game is also fully voiced.

But Fallout 3 is still no traditional FPS.

There is an new gameplay mechanics called V.A.T.S (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System)

It works as hybrid turn based battle system, as it will stop game world and you can aim for your target's and choose, what body part you will try to shoot. Then game will show your actions in different views when you do attacks on your enemies.

When V.A.T.S end, game will go to normal game mode and you must wait some time to action point's to reload.

You can fight against your enemies when waiting to get more action points. So combat is Turn based/real time hybrid.

If you try to play this game as traditional FPS, you will be screwed, It can be done, but battles are harder that traditional FPS's.

There is so many forum question about why this game is so hard and you will not hit you enemies. Then you read about V.A.T.S and think "OK, it's the V button)

Too bad that game crash quite often in modern machines.

There in many tutorials and tricks how to get this game working little better. Some of these will help somebody and some get more crashes. But this dd not bother me much, as i have played this game countless hours.

Previous playthru lasted over 100 hours. So this will tell something about how good story and world is done in Fallout 3.

Some help about crashing issues can be find at.
