Star wars: Rebels
Star Wars Rebels animation is now available in Finland through Netflix and before this it was shown on Disney XD channel.
Time line in this series is a few years before the original Star Wars movie events (about 5 years before the Battle of Yavin), and the story follows a young boy named Ezra Bridger, which teams up with the Jedi named Kanan Jarrus and his crew.
Together they will take part in the ongoing rebellion against the evil empire.
Although series is more children friendly as it is made for Disney animation channels, but however events in the series are surprisingly adult oriented when looking how action and violence is portrayed.
There is even little section of torture, that was huge surprise for me. It was similar scene that we have seen on The Empire strikes back.
My thought about the series
During the couple of firsts episodes of series, i have some quite contradictory thoughts about it.
Series work well just by itself, but in the beginning there was slightly too much underlined he fact, that you look at a series based on the universe of Star Wars.
Of course, this works as tutorial like in video games, where you will get to know a world of the series and its main characters. But if Star Wars is already very familiar to you, then it may be a little irritating, as it happened to me during two or three first episodes.
Still it is not a big issues.
But in any case, the series starts to live its own life very soon and in the series will see how good series is. They have bring all that good, that Star Wars experience should be, and were able to shake off the burden of Episodes 1 - 3.
Dialog is really smooth and don't carry any degree of annoying aspects that we have seen in Star Wars movies. I liked dialog very much and mainly all of lines are greatly written-ed.
No annoying "I have seen a security hologram... of him... killing Younglings" or "
Nooooooooooooooooooo!" types of weirdness (at least i didn't notice)
Series takes place about 5 years before events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and you'll see also some familiar faces on this series from another Star Wars movies and from Clone Wars animation.

First season consist of 15 episodes and the season 1 was watched very quickly. Now that 1st season is here and season 2 is about to start very soon on U.S.
So well see when season 2 will be available on Finland / Europe and do they air it only on Disney channel or will it be shown on local channels as well.
Series is must for all Star Wars fans, but story and series works also alone if Star Wars universe is not familiar to you.
I highly recommend this series. Also if you have kids around 9+ with you, then this will be good family fun to watch with them.
